Shams location and access

Shams sits on the eastern side of Al Reem Island, surrounded by the cultural centre of Saadiyat Island and the financial centre of Al Maryah Island, and only minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi. Aldar places Shams Boutik, Sun and Sky Towers, Gate and Arc Towers, the Reem Island Canal and Shams Beach within a five minute walk of the development. Reem Central Park, Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University, Repton School and Burjeel Day Care Centre are all nearby, while Reem Mall, Galleria Mall, the Rosewood and Four Seasons hotels and Cleveland Clinic sit close by on or beside the island. The developer brochure counts two minutes to Gate Towers, three minutes to Reem Central Park, four minutes to Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University, five minutes to Shams Beach and nine minutes to The Galleria.

Homes and layouts

The mix runs from studios to three bedroom apartments and is open to buyers of all nationalities. Aldar floor plans show studios of about 37 sqm with balconies of 5 to 7 sqm, one bedroom apartments of about 60 sqm, two bedroom apartments of about 91 to 92 sqm, and three bedroom apartments of about 130 to 131 sqm that include a maid's room. Every apartment has a balcony, and Aldar describes outlooks over the sea and mangroves, the park between the towers, or the city skyline. One two bedroom layout carries a balcony of 38 sqm.

Amenities and readiness

A pocket park sits between the two towers and connects them, with room for picnics, barbecues and outdoor fitness, and a selection of cafes and coffee shops overlooking it. Five floors up in each tower, a podium level holds a gym and an infinity pool with views across the park, along with a communal garden and outdoor seating. Aldar also lists a children's pool and play areas, an adults' infinity pool, a yoga deck, a multipurpose games room, multipurpose halls, BBQ areas, an outdoor fitness area, ground level parking and retail outlets, and the buildings were designed to reduce water and electricity demand.

Aldar targeted 2021 for completion at launch, then confirmed in February 2022 that the first building was fully operational and occupied when it released the second tower, Reflection II, with all 182 apartments there ready for move in during Q2 2022. At that release the developer published prices from AED 590,300 for a studio, AED 885,800 for a one bedroom home, AED 1,327,000 for a two bedroom and AED 1,822,000 for a three bedroom apartment.
