Renting out through an agency: agree the basics

AI illustration of a bright contemporary apartment living room
Handing your home to an agency to rent out works best when everyone knows who does what from the start. Before the first advert, agree how the asking rent will be set and what evidence supports it, which tenant criteria matter to you, and who approves the final choice. Decide who signs the tenancy contract, who registers it in Tawtheeq and who collects and holds the cheques. Put these points in writing, along with how often you will receive updates and in what form. Example: you live abroad and want a short message after each viewing and a monthly summary once the tenant moves in. Clear roles avoid two familiar frustrations: decisions made without you, and tasks each side assumed the other would handle. Prepared by Masterpiece Property. Keep the new registered copy with your file and hand over any new cheques against a signed receipt. Example: a tenant renews verbally in Al Bateen, but the registration still shows last year's expiry date when a service provide
