Reset access to your home after transfer

After transfer, the previous owner, past tenants, cleaners or contractors may still hold keys, codes or access cards to your new home. Resetting access is a simple step that protects your family and your belongings from day one. Change the locks or reprogram smart door codes, ask the community management to cancel old access cards and issue new ones, and reprogram any garage or gate remotes. Then register with the community management company as the new owner, so building notices, service charge invoices and intercom calls reach you rather than the seller. Update the intercom name and contact number, and keep a list of every key, card and remote you now hold. If one goes missing later, you will know exactly what to cancel.
